The demand for bee products such as honey, propolis, pollen, and beeswax in the State of Mexico has seen a significant increase during the pandemic, with sales rising by 30 to 50 percent. Honey consumption has grown by 30 percent, while propolis has seen a 50 percent increase in demand. However, a shortage of propolis is currently being experienced. The beekeeping industry in the state supports around 800 families and is contributing to the growth of the sector, despite generating less than 1 percent of the country's total honey production.
