Indonesia is facing a growing reliance on imports of egg powder and soybeans, with India being the primary supplier. The import value and volume of egg powder have seen significant increases over the past year, despite Indonesia's self-sufficiency in soybeans in the past. The high cost of raw materials for animal feed in Indonesia is a key factor in the rising import dependence and the instability in egg prices. Musbar Mesdi, Chairman of the National Layer Breeders Association, has highlighted India's ability to produce egg powder at lower prices, which he attributes to India's self-sufficiency in soybeans and lower production costs.
