India has recently adjusted its stance on the indefinite onion export ban by allowing the export of 3,600 tonnes of onions per quarter specifically to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), as per the Foreign Trade Policy, 2023. This decision, which amends a prior notification, comes after the ban's extension was confirmed on March 22, and follows similar permissions granted for exports to Bangladesh and the UAE. The move is part of India's efforts to manage domestic onion prices while still engaging in limited international trade, including the imposition of a minimum export price of USD 800 per tonne to regulate these exports.
