The Indonesian government has officially recognized five US halal-certify bodies, a significant move reported by the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) Global Agricultural Information Network (GAIN). This recognition comes ahead of Indonesia's mandatory halal certification law, set to take effect on October 17, 2024, for most food and beverage products. This initiative is designed to ease the process for US suppliers to obtain halal certification for their products eligible for the Indonesian market, while products containing non-halal ingredients like pork and alcohol remain excluded.
