The Directorate General for Strengthening the Competitiveness of Marine and Fishery Products (PDSPKP) of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries of Indonesia had a virtual meeting with the Singapore Food Agency, where it was discussed that Indonesia continued to experience growth in its marine and fishery commodity exports, including items like shrimp, squid, tuna, mahi-mahi, and yellow tail fish fillet, even during the pandemic. In 2020, Indonesia exported 1.3 million tons of these commodities, valued at USD 5.2 billion, with Singapore being one of the main recipients. The government is pursuing various strategies to further increase these exports, such as business meetings and activities within the Indonesia-Singapore Agribusiness Working Group (IS AWG), and by developing aquaculture villages based on local wisdom to alleviate poverty and maintain sustainability.
