The domestic pepper price in Vietnam has increased for the second consecutive session, with the highest price observed in Ba Ria - Vung Tau and the lowest in Gia Lai and Dong Nai. The price hike is attributed to the high coffee price, affecting farmers' decision to increase the price of pepper. Vietnam's 2022 pepper crop is expected to be similar to 2021, provided the weather remains stable. Binh Phuoc province, a key industrial crop area, is focusing on sustainable pepper development as part of agricultural restructuring. Meanwhile, the price of Thai white sugar 45 ICUMSA closed at 503.2 USD/ton, up 3.6 USD from the previous session, while raw sugar for March delivery on the ICE floor fell by 0.18 cents or 1% to 18.3 US cents/lb due to inflation concerns. The French Ministry of Agriculture anticipates a minor 3% decrease in the area sown for sugar beet seeds for the 2022 harvest.
