Within the framework of the project "Strategies for the optimization of reproductive parameters in small ruminants," funded by the Undersecretary of Agriculture, specialists from the Institute of Agricultural Research (INIA) have initiated a trial to improve reproductive indices of the Hidango sheep breed in the O’Higgins Region. "This initiative aims to evaluate the use of melatonin as a natural tool to increase fertility, prolificacy, and fecundity of females during periods of low reproductive activity," explained Dr. Francisco Canto, a researcher at INIA Remehue, a specialist in sheep production.
