The National Institute of Agrarian Innovation (INIA) installed native potato accessions in experimental plots of the Agrobiodiversity Zone of Andenes de Cuyocuyo, in the Puno region, with the objective of strengthening the in situ conservation of native genetic resources and generating technical evidence for their sustainable use. With these accessions, installed within the framework of the project "Agrobiodiversity Zones as hotspots of genetic resources and resilient agro-food systems in the Peruvian Andes" by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), INIA will develop research work oriented towards the morphological and genetic characterization of the collected material, as well as the evaluation of its productive behavior in local agroecological conditions.
