(Inje=Yonhap News) Reporter Yang Ji-woong = On the 30th, it was announced that Inje County, Gangwon, is now fully exporting its summer representative agricultural product, green peppers, to the metropolitan agricultural wholesale markets.
According to the Seoul Metropolitan Agricultural Products Corporation's auction information on the same day, Inje green peppers were traded at 118,500 won per 10 kg based on the top grade, recording the highest level nationwide.
The county explained that this is the result of the premium value of Inje green peppers being reflected between middlemen and consumers.
Additionally, on this day, among the 189,672 kg of green pepper shipments nationwide, Inje green peppers accounted for 67,610 kg (35.4%) and recorded the highest volume.
Inje green peppers, which grow in high-altitude areas of over 500 meters above sea level, are rich in antioxidants such as vitamin C, and boast high quality with a crisp texture, vibrant color, and uniform size.
This year, with stable crop conditions, a large quantity of high-quality green peppers is being exported, attracting attention in the wholesale market.
Kim Seon-ik, Director of the Distribution and Livestock Division, said, "We will continue to provide multifaceted support such as packaging material and transportation fee subsidies, and quality improvement education, so that Inje green peppers can be stably exported and further recognized by consumers."
Inje green peppers will be exported until October and will be available to consumers through various distribution channels such as nationwide wholesale markets and local food stores.
