Between August 19 and 23, numerous outbreaks of animal diseases were reported across Europe and in other countries, including Italy, Ukraine, Poland, Romania, Hungary, Denmark, Mexico, France, Belgium, Poland, and the United States. The outbreaks involved African swine fever in pigs and wild boar, highly pathogenic avian influenza in wild birds and poultry, tularemia in Norway, West Nile fever in Germany, nodular dermatosis in South Korea, Q fever in Montenegro, sheep pox in Greece, PPR in Greece and Romania, anthrax in Bulgaria, and bluetongue in Denmark and France. The reports detailed the infection and death of large numbers of animals, with many more being culled to contain the spread of the diseases.
