The international project "VALMEDALM" has been launched to enhance the production of Mediterranean almonds using integrated intercropping strategies. Led by Portugal's More – Mountains Research Collaborative Laboratory (More CoLab) and involving nine entities from six countries, the project is funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) and the Partnership for Research and Innovation in the Mediterranean Region (PRIMA), with support from the European program Horizon 2020. The project will implement intercropping practices, evaluate their impact on production, nutritional properties, biodiversity, pest and weed management, and will focus on knowledge transfer and collaborative work with local farmers and businesses.
