Introduction of reusable aquatic product containers as a replacement for styrofoam

A reusable packaging for seafood products, which can replace styrofoam (EPS), has been developed and introduced in the country for the first time. The Korea Institute of Industrial Technology (hereinafter referred to as KITECH) recently announced that it has jointly developed a "seafood-specific reusable B2B packaging" with NPC. The newly developed container is reusable and has excellent cold preservation performance, which can compensate for the shortcomings of existing single-use styrofoam. Moreover, it is mostly made of polypropylene material, which can be recycled into other products after use. The research team at the KITECH Packaging Technology Center developed waste plastic recycling technology, improved the design, and conducted environmental assessments.
