Seventeen provinces and 211 regencies/cities in Indonesia have been locked down due to foot and mouth disease, leading to a potential significant impact on beef supply, as these areas are major cattle production centers. The lockdown could result in an excess supply and falling prices in production centers, but a supply shortage and soaring prices in areas without livestock centers. Experts recommend a comprehensive plan, including the distribution of frozen meat from affected areas, to control the disease and maintain meat supply throughout the country.
