Spring development of fruit orchards is entering a crucial phase, however – as emphasized by orchard advisor Robert Binkiewicz from Agrosimex – decisions regarding treatments regulating growth and fruit setting currently require particular consideration. In apple orchards, the typical time for applying gibberellins has not yet arrived. As the expert points out, despite the dynamic development of the plants, the phenological phase in most farms does not justify the start of standard gibberellin programs. It is recommended to refrain from treatments at least until the beginning of flowering. A similar situation pertains to pears. Even in orchards where the so-called "white balloon" stage is observed, it is still too early for routine gibberellin application. However, there are situations where earlier implementation of a gibberellin program may be justified. This primarily concerns orchards where bud damage caused by winter or spring frosts has been detected. In such cases – ...
