Israel has seen a surge in carrot and potato exports due to a wet winter, benefiting from the drought that affected Spain, Portugal, and Italy. This has resulted in record numbers of both crops being exported, with potato exports increasing by 60,000 tons and carrot exports increasing by 35,000 tons. Russia was previously the largest export market for Israel's potatoes and carrots, but the conflict in Ukraine disrupted trade and caused a decline in the Russian ruble.
