Turkey: Istanbulites consumed the most anchovy and horse mackerel in 2021

Anchovy and horse mackerel were consumed the most in Istanbul last year. According to the information received by the AA correspondent from the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, 114 different types of fishery products were brought to the Gürpınar Fisheries Market last year. While 48 thousand 737 tons of aquatic products were brought in 2020, this figure was 45 thousand 81 tons last year. Anchovy, bonito, whiting, horse mackerel and bluefish were the top five products in 2020, while this ranking changed to anchovy, horse mackerel, haddock, bluefish and sea bream in 2021. Among the products brought to the market last year, anchovy ranked first with 15,40 tons, horse mackerel was second with 7 thousand 25 tons, and whiting came third with 4 thousand 148 tons.
