Alata Horticultural Cultures, in partnership with the General Directorate of Agricultural Research and Policies of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry in Turkey, has initiated a project to culturally grow morel mushrooms in Mersin, a region not previously known for this type of production. The project, spearheaded by the Research Institute Directorate, has seen initial success with mushrooms appearing in greenhouse cultures by March and showing promise for substantial harvests. The mushrooms, highly valued in French cuisine and known for their therapeutic properties, can fetch up to 400 TL per kilogram, potentially generating significant income for producers. The project aims to establish morel mushroom cultivation as a profitable venture in Turkey, with plans to expand through comprehensive R&D efforts.
