Alata Bahçe, a research institution under the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, is conducting a study on cultivating morel mushrooms in greenhouses in Mersin, Turkey. The mushrooms, currently grown from specimens collected from the wild, have shown promise with potential yields of 300 to 700 kilograms per decare and a selling price of 400 TL per kilogram, translating to a potential profit of 120 to 280 thousand TL. The project aims to provide farmers with a lucrative alternative crop and is currently in the R&D phase, with plans to increase production and extend the harvest season through shading and humidification techniques.
