In 2022, Turkey emerged as a significant exporter of pistachios, shipping out 19,138 tons to 104 countries at a value of $181.13 million, as reported by Anadolu and the Association of Exporters Unions of Southeast Anatolia (GAİB). Italy emerged as the primary importer, with purchases amounting to $37.12 million, closely followed by Germany and Kyrgyzstan with $29.75 million and $15.86 million respectively. Other notable importers include Nigeria, Malaysia, and Japan. Compared to the exports in 2021, which stood at $208.37 million, the 2022 figures show a slight decrease. Notably, pistachios are primarily cultivated in the Turkish provinces of Şanlıurfa and Gaziantep.
