In January 2021, the European Union-27 (EU-27) saw a decrease in agri-food trade by 13%, totaling 22.6 billion euros, with a positive trade balance of 4.4 billion euros. Exports to China and the UK were notable, with a 15% decrease in exports to the UK. The report also highlighted changes in product exports and imports, showing an increase in food for pets, rapeseed and sunflower oils, and a decrease in wine, baby food, and vegetable and fruit preparations, among others. The most exported products included wine, pork, pasta, baked goods, chocolate and confectionery, and baby food, accounting for over 26% of the total EU-27 agri-food exports.
