The European Union (EU) and the United Kingdom (UK) are negotiating a trade agreement that includes low tariffs for UK blue cheese, provided there is excess EU import quota. The EU will establish an import quota of 11,000 tons for blue cheese, with the tax rate gradually reduced and eliminated. If the quota is not utilized, a mechanism will refund the difference between the tariff and the normal rate. The negotiations aim to maintain the EU's negotiation policy and market opening level within the European Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA).
