JETRO plans to launch a scallop processing pilot project in Mexico and supply the processed products to the U.S. market in response to China's import ban on Japanese seafood. CNN has started broadcasting TV advertisements to promote Japanese scallops and other seafood, produced by the Japan Food Overseas Promotion Center. The pilot project will begin in Ensenada, Mexico in February 2023, and JETRO plans to hold negotiations with U.S. businessmen in Los Angeles in March 2024 to discuss the potential commercial advantages of Japanese scallops processed in Mexico.
