Japan will conduct a sanitary audit for Brazilian beef in March 2026

The government of Japan confirmed to the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock that it will carry out, in March 2026, an on-site audit to evaluate the Brazilian sanitary system for beef, a step considered central in the process of opening the Japanese market to the national product. The confirmation was made to the Ministry by the Secretary of Commerce and International Relations, Luis Rua. The audit will be conducted by technicians from the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan and will focus on evaluating the risks of the Brazilian sanitary system, without inspection at specific slaughterhouses.
