Jeju Cherry with 'Red Color' Begins Full-Scale Distribution

Jeju-grown cherries have begun full-scale shipments. The Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Agricultural Technology Institute's Jeju Agricultural Technology Center (Director Moon Seon-hee) announced that cherries produced from a cultivation area of 3.4 hectares across 13 farms in Aewol-eup, Jeju City, have begun full-scale shipments since late May. These shipped cherries were produced from a cultivation area established through the 'Exemplary Income Crop District Project (Aewol Agricultural Cooperative)' in 2019, and are receiving positive evaluations for both fruit quality and market response. The Jeju Agricultural Technology Center has been promoting a 'Cherry Color Enhancement Cover Treatment Demonstration Project' from 2023 to 2024, developing techniques to improve fruit coloration and quality, thereby increasing farm income from 27.4% to a maximum of 36.9%.
