[Korean Farmers and Fishermen Newspaper, Reporter Kang Jae-nam] Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Assembly urged the expansion of a government-level inclusive financial safety net for the primary industry to alleviate the financial burden of Jeju's farmers and fishermen and to establish a sustainable management base amid the climate crisis, high interest rates, and economic downturn, leading to accumulated debt and rising delinquency rates. The Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Assembly adopted a proposal titled "A Proposal on Alleviating Financial Burden of the Primary Industry and Establishing a Sustainable Management Base," introduced by Representative Song Young-hoon (Democratic Party of Korea, Namwon-eup) at the 6th plenary session of the 2nd regular session of the 444th Assembly held last 10th, and decided to officially urge the National Assembly and the government to establish a tailored financial recovery plan for the primary industry. This proposal is aimed at small and medium-sized businesses.
