The Union of Chambers of Agriculture of Turkey (TZOB) chairman, Şemsi Bayraktar, reported significant price differences between producers and consumers for various products in June, with watermelon seeing the highest difference of 341.18%. He also noted that while some market prices increased, others, such as watermelon, decreased by 72.97% due to increased harvest. The highest price increase was in red lentils, likely due to drought impacting supply. Bayraktar also highlighted the impact of natural disasters like frost and warmer weather affecting prices of dried apricots, carrots, and greens. Concern was expressed about the drought affecting 52 provinces, as reported by the Union of Chambers of Agriculture of Turkey, with the worst precipitation decrease seen in Southeast Anatolia (83.3%).
