The National Institute of Agricultural Innovation (INIA) installed a demonstration plot of waxy corn of the INIA 628 Yuracc Choccllo variety in the populated center of Alayo, Concepción province, Junín region. This initiative aims to improve the quality and competitiveness of the crop's value chain for the benefit of the Association of Agricultural Producers. With the installation of this plot, the INIA, through the Santa Ana Agricultural Experimental Station (EEA Santa Ana), will develop waxy corn seeds with high genetic, physiological, and sanitary quality, capable of resisting the main pests and diseases that affect the crop, increasing productive yield per hectare, offering grains with good texture, and ensuring better adaptability to different types of climate.
