Junín: Producers harvested 4 TM of high genetic quality forage oat seeds

Small and medium-sized producers from the Guashina area, in the Pomacancha district, Junín region, managed to harvest 4 tons of certified forage oat seeds, with genetic quality of the INIA 901 – Mantaro 15M variety. These seeds were installed in a demonstration plot by the National Institute of Agrarian Innovation (INIA). With this genetic material, the small producers will be able to triple the production of high-value seeds, which will allow for an increase in the yield level of the hectares, but also expand the cultivation areas, contributing to strengthening the production of feed for livestock and the family economy. The harvesting process was accompanied by a training course on "Harvesting, post-harvesting, and yield evaluation of forage oats," where INIA transferred methodologies for pest control, production of high-value seeds, organic fertilizer production, good agricultural practices, sowing methods, harvesting, post-harvesting, among others.
