In 2023, fishing companies in the Kaliningrad region saw a 4% increase in their catch from the previous year, totaling 165,213 thousand tons. The main species caught were mackerel, blue whiting, Atlantic herring, beaked perch, capelin, cod, and haddock. Notably, the total catch in the Barents Sea increased sixfold, and in the open part of the Norwegian Sea, it increased by 13%. Overall, Russia recorded a 30-year high in total fish catch in 2023, with over 5.3 million tons of fish caught.
