Kazakhstan aims to become a regional food processing hub, with value-added agricultural products making up 70% of exports by 2028. Part of the strategy includes expanding grain processing capacity by six million tons with a focus on higher value products such as amino acids, syrups, and vitamins. The country, already the EU's primary supplier of sunflower seeds and durum wheat, seeks to move up the value chain. The sector is financed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the Baiterek Venture Fund, and the Development Bank of Kazakhstan. This includes support for Central Asia's largest poultry farm, which produces 90,000 tons of meat annually.
