Russia has seen a significant increase in halal meat exports, with a 50% rise to 129 thousand tons as of December 23, 2022, compared to the same period in 2021. The majority of these exports, which include poultry and offal, are sent to Islamic countries such as Saudi Arabia, Kazakhstan, and the United Arab Emirates. The most popular meats imported are chicken, which is favored in countries like Kyrgyzstan and Bahrain, and beef and lamb, which are mainly imported by Uzbekistan and Iran, respectively. Halal products now make up 35% of Russia's total meat export supplies, with efforts underway to expand the distribution of halal products further.
