Currently, there are 43 egg and poultry farms, 36 meat poultry production enterprises, and 7 livestock breeding farms nationwide.
Data from the National Bureau of Statistics shows that as of October 1, the total number of poultry nationwide reached 49 million, an increase of 6.5% compared to the same period last year. Last year, the nation produced 4.5 billion eggs, fully meeting domestic market demand; poultry meat production reached 360,000 tons.
Driven by investment projects, over the past five years, Kazakhstan's self-sufficiency rate for poultry meat has increased from 58% to 79%.
To reduce reliance on imports and strengthen food security, the government is actively promoting the construction and commissioning of new production capacities. Last year alone, the nation started six new poultry meat production projects, with a total annual production capacity of 15,900 tons and an investment of 5.7 billion tenge. Five projects currently being implemented have a total annual production capacity of 45,000 tons, with an investment of 260 billion tenge.
Within the next three years, it is planned to start eight large-scale poultry meat enterprises, with a total production capacity reaching 241,000 tons annually, with an investment of approximately 167.9 billion tenge.
It is expected that by 2027, Kazakhstan will be able to fully meet domestic poultry meat consumption needs and further expand export supply.
