Pastoralist communities in Lamu County are seeking dialogue with ranch owners to permit grazing on private lands due to severe drought and insufficient pasture. The region has experienced significant pasture depletion, leading to the death of hundreds of livestock. In addition to requesting access to private ranches, these communities are calling for government financial aid and urgently need the restoration of grazing lands, which have been encroached upon and grabbed for development, exacerbating the pasture shortage.
