Kenya's vegetable exports in 2020 saw a decrease to 24 billion shillings (US$220 million), down from US$248 million the previous year, with a drop in shipment volume from 73,000 tons to 60,000 tons. This decline was attributed to the COVID-19 pandemic's impact on key markets, such as the European Union and Britain. Despite the setback in vegetable exports, Kenya's fruit exports experienced growth, generating 167 million dollars in 2020, up from 120 million dollars in 2019. The country exported over 104,000 tons of fruits, with avocado and mangoes being the primary products, and is looking to expand its market reach further into the United States and African nations.
