The kiwi harvest in Ordu has commenced, aiming to supplement the local economy alongside hazelnuts with an anticipated yield of 8,600 tons in 2024, contributing around 300 million TL. Governor Muammer Erol and officials attended the event, emphasizing efforts to boost kiwi production, which started 30 years ago. The province has expanded kiwi cultivation to 3,914 acres, with plans to surpass a yield of 12,000 tons. Ordu Kiwi, known for its distinct aroma and long shelf life, was granted a geographical indication in 2019. Producer Tarık Tercan, who began cultivating kiwi four years ago, plans to increase his yield from 3 tons to 20 tons.
