The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries and the National Police of Indonesia have successfully prevented a smuggling attempt involving 34,472 lobster clear seeds (BBL) worth Rp 3.9 billion, intended for Singapore. The smugglers had used a unique packaging method involving a plastic bag pressed with a special machine, with the BBL placed in a suitcase and then in a wooden box. The scheme was uncovered when a private car was found at the cargo parking area of Soekarno Hatta Airport with a wooden box containing the confiscated BBL. The authorities seized a total of 33 plastic bags with the confiscated BBL, containing 24,608 sand species and 9,864 pearl species. The smugglers could face up to 8 years in prison if caught, and the confiscated BBL are being released at Loka PSPL Serang beach. This incident aligns with the Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries' commitment to domestic lobster cultivation and a recent regulation banning the export of lobster clear seeds.
