The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) in Malaysia has announced that 16 types of goods will be price controlled under the Chinese New Year Maximum Price Scheme (SHMMP) 2021, which will be in effect for nine days starting February 8. The scheme covers items such as live and slaughtered chickens, eggs, cabbage, chillies, tomatoes, garlic, potatoes, white pomfret fish, large white shrimp, pork, and live pigs, with prices set per kilogram. KPDNHEP has advised traders to sell these items at the government-set prices and to use pink price tags. The department has also warned that traders could face fines or imprisonment if they do not comply with the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act 2011 and the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988, which regulate business practices and the enforcement of SOPs, respectively.
