The Rural Development Administration of South Korea is set to transfer its advanced seed potato production technology to Pakistan, in a move aimed at boosting the country's self-sufficiency in seed potatoes. The technology, which will be distributed from 2021, is expected to meet over 30% of Pakistan's seed potato needs by 2028. The transfer is part of a broader cooperation agreement between the two countries, which also includes projects in livestock improvement and feed production technology. The agreement was signed in August 2020 and has been bolstered by a Presidential Citation for Outstanding Official Development Assistance (ODA) received by Pakistan's Agricultural Research Service. The Pakistani director expressed interest in further transfer of Korean agricultural technologies, including climate change response and smart farming.
