La Libertad. In the fight against anemia and child malnutrition, the district of Pataz is making a milestone with the launch of the Cereal and Pulses Flour Processing Center in the annex of Vijus. This initiative is fundamental for improving nutrition through the use of local superfoods and is part of the project “United Against Anemia in the District of Pataz,” which aims to eradicate this disease in children under 3 years old. The impact of this center lies in the processing and packaging of nutritious flours made from local cereals and pulses, including lentil, pea, balsa bean, palo bean, wheat, corn, ñuña, and broad beans. With these flours, a significant change in dietary habits is promoted, improving the diet with products of high concentration of essential nutrients that directly benefit children and pregnant women.
