The Tomsk Region in Russia saw a 1.3% increase in rapeseed cultivation area in 2020, reaching 21.6 thousand hectares and resulting in a record harvest of 41.7 thousand tons, a 148.4% increase from the previous year. The average yield was 19.3 c / ha, more than twice the yield in 2019. The expansion of rapeseed cultivation is attributed to its high marginality and the ability to process seeds locally, leading to the production of quality rapeseed oil, extruded cake, and other products. These products are popular in Russia, China, and the Baltic countries. For the first four months of 2020, the Altai branch of the FSBI Grain Quality Assessment Center in Tomsk received 26 samples of rapeseed to confirm quality and safety, 23 of which met the required standards for industrial processing.
