Lack of rain worries peach producers

The peach harvest is progressing in the main producing regions of Rio Grande do Sul, according to the Conjunctural Bulletin released by Emater/RS-Ascar on Thursday (11). In the administrative region of Caxias do Sul, in Pinto Bandeira, the largest producing hub for the fruit, the harvest is in full swing. The varieties BRS Kampai and BRS Fascínio are in the final phase, while medium-cycle cultivars such as Chimarrita, Charme, and BRS Serenata account for the largest volume harvested. The harvest of the PS 10711 variety and nectarine has also begun, with the BRS Carina cultivar standing out. According to the survey, "producers report a slight delay in the maturation of the orchards this season," and prices paid to producers range from R$ 3.50 to R$ 6.00 per kilo, depending on caliber, quality, and market.
