The Federal Agency for Agriculture and Food (BLE) has released its 2020 report on the state of the German deep-sea and coastal fisheries, highlighting a 6.5% decrease in fish landings to around 181,137 tons, and a drop in revenue to 182.1 million euros, down from 194.9 million euros in the previous year. The report reveals that blue whiting, herring, mackerel, sprat, and pilchard sardine were the top five species landed. Additionally, the report notes that over 20,000 tonnes of goods, primarily table crabs and herring, were sold domestically, while over 133,000 tonnes of fish, valued at 94.4 million euros, were landed and sold abroad, with the Netherlands being the primary destination.
