Lao Cai, Vietnam: Growing strange vegetables from the West, curly leaves, picking where traders come to buy in the field

Kale is originated from the West and is currently mainly grown in Da Lat and Lam Dong. However, in highland communes with typical temperate climate such as Lung Phinh (Bac Ha - Lao Cai), this strange variety of curly leaves also grows very well, giving high quality. In 2017, the agricultural sector of Bac Ha district successfully imported kale varieties for pilot planting. Realizing that this is a cabbage variety with high economic value, Bac Ha farmers have gradually expanded the area. Currently, in the town and communes of Na Hoi, Ta Chai and Ban Pho, this vegetable has been grown quite popularly. After more than 4 years of development, the kale model has confirmed that it is suitable for the Bac Ha highland fields.
