[Reporter Lee Jang-hee, Korea Farmers' News] In Jinam-ri, Janghowon-eup, Icheon City, Gyeonggi Province, Seok Jae-in (61) is in the midst of shipping freshly harvested, tantalizing peaches from his 30,000㎡ peach farm. Icheon City's 'Janghowon Hwangdo' is counted among the best peaches in the country. Icheon is the region where the 'Mibakdo' and 'Janghowon Hwangdo' varieties originated, and among these, the 'Janghowon Hwangdo', which boasts the best taste, is in season from early September to early October. It has a low acidity, high sugar content, and a rich aroma. The 'Janghowon Hwangdo' is a mutant variety of the 'Elberta' variety that farmer Choi Sang-yong brought from Japan in 1963 and discovered in the Janghowon region.
