Argentina: Lemon producers from Tucumán warn about the impact of the increase in withholdings on exports

The recent decision of the national government to modify withholdings on exports in the agroindustrial sector generated a wide debate, especially in the industries that were harmed by the changes. The production of lemon and its byproducts, a key sector in the regional economy of Tucumán and the Northwest in general, made its discontent known today. During a meeting with the Argentine Agroindustrial Council (CAA), the Ministry of Economy of the Nation, led by the Secretaries of Coordination Juan Pazos and of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries Fernando Vilella, announced the application of a general rate of 15% in the withholdings on exports for products from the agroindustrial sector. This measure, which excludes most regional productions, wines and products from the soy sector, directly affects fresh lemon fruit and its industrial by-products.
