Less supply causes onion prices to rise in Ukraine

After a short period of stability, onion prices in Ukraine have started to rise again, EastFruit analysts reported. The reason for the price increase in the segment was primarily a fairly limited supply of onions. Most producers who do not have their own storage facilities have already completed sales this season. Today, growers offer high-quality onions at 23-27 UAH/kg (€0.60-0.71/kg), which is on average 15% more expensive than a week earlier. According to the growers, they are raising onion prices due to a noticeable increase in demand. At the same time, the supply of high quality onions on the market is limited as many farms try not to sell out of storage.
