Lettuce prices registered a drop in the wholesale market of the main Supply Centers (Ceasas) in Brazil, on a weighted average, for the third consecutive month in October. In August, the decline was 8.77%. In September, the drop was larger (16.01%), while last month, the reduction was 7.27% compared to the average of September. This is what the 11th Bulletin of the Brazilian Program for the Modernization of the Horticultural Market (Prohort), from the National Supply Company (Conab), released this Tuesday (25), shows. "The supply of leafy vegetables at high levels is one of the factors that pressure prices down. Another reason that explains the decrease in prices is the lower demand for the food, as observed in the Curitiba Central due to the colder weather," said Conab in the bulletin.
