Brazil: Weather reduces the supply of lettuce and price rises

Recent weather conditions in São Paulo's green belt, characterized by rain and high temperatures, have severely affected the production of curly lettuce, leading to a decrease in planting rates, increased damage, and higher discard rates. These adverse climate conditions have resulted in a reduced supply and diminished quality of lettuce, prompting a significant price surge. Notably, Crespa lettuce in Ibiúna experienced a 32.18% price increase, reaching R$35.83 per box with 20 feet, and iceberg lettuce in Mogi das Cruzes saw an 11.7% rise, quoted at R$43.75 per box with 12 units, as reported by the Hortifrúti/Cepea team.
