With the aim of boosting agriculture through efficient management of water resources, the National Water Authority (ANA) presented the preliminary studies on the potential for water storage that will pave the way for the construction project of a dam in the Pativilca river basin, in the province of Barranca, Lima region. The final execution will be in charge of the corresponding competent entities. These studies, fundamental for evaluating and determining the storage potential in the Pativilca river basin, will allow the selection of a dam site that could store 205 million cubic meters useful for agriculture. This would cover the water demand for multisectoral use, benefiting 25,000 hectares currently in production and allowing the incorporation of another 24,000 new hectares located in neighboring basins.
