Limited supply and high demand support global garlic prices

The supply of both fresh and peeled garlic is currently limited and looks set to remain so in the near future. “Fresh garlic production in Spain and China has declined due to severe weather events that have compromised the quality and volume of the harvest. So instead of sending it fresh, they clean it,” says Tony Biondo of Trucco Inc., adding that he typically receives a large volume of product from Spain. But the supply of peeled garlic does not lead to an overall increase in purchases; the volume remains the same, EastFruit writes with reference to FreshPlaza.
